I've recently graduated from Ohio State with a degree in Philosophy. I've completed all of OSU'S Chinese language courses at the Undergraduate level and have visited China twice, once for study abroad, and once for travel, for a total of six months spent learning there.
Experience
I've tutored all ages, from 8 years old to 40. I have experience tutoring Chinese at a basic and intermediate level. I am not a native speaker, so I can teach while understanding a student's perspective. The disadvantage of this is that I don't feel qualified to tutor Chinese at an advanced level at this point. I also have extensive experience teaching English pronunciation. I taught a Korean businessman for more than a year and helped him significantly improve his pronunciation and fluency. I've also helped a Japanese researcher with his writing assignments. I've helped students in the past develop skills to test well on the TOEFL. Hobbies
I'm interested in many different things. I'm especially into philosophy, rowing, brewing beer, and hiking right now. I just came back to Toledo after finishing my through-hike of the Appalachian Trail. The journey took six months to complete. I like trying new things and love meeting new people.
